| ARCTIC YEAR is a children's book exploring the creatures that inhabit the unique and extreme environment of the Alaskan tundra. The project was created by naturalist illustrator Natalya Zahn; as a participant in the Voices of the Wilderness artist residency program, Natalya accompanied a group of U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service biologists on a 2016 field work expedition to Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This book is the culmination of her residency requirements and will be used by the USFWS in educational outreach programs promoting awareness of this extraordinary ecosystem.
